Ready made stuff is useful because it's all in the box. In fact, with only a color change here and there, a logo, you're good to go!'

Anyway, though, some people are not satisfied with such themes and are willing to pay more for an expert.

I agree with you ready made theme is more convinient for me because it is already been made and it dos not require must of your time. It is very usefull for the beginners like me to gain ideas about the ready made themes.

I think that if you can afford custom themes, it's always better than free themes for your site. But a new site owner, it's important to start with free forum theme and see how your site progress before jumping into custom themes.

Not sure if I'd go with "ready made" or custom if funds were available.

Anyway, I do know that the few free themes for XF 2 aren't so hot.

Oh, custom all the way. If I build it, it's mine and looks exactly the way I want it. SMF has always been the easiest platform to me for customization. It's html friendly and that's the way I like it.

I used to get custom themes from friends instead of ready made ones because I really wanted my forum to look unique. I definately think custom is the way to go. You want to stand out especially if you’re going with a niche that everyone else has!

I tend to use custom themes to add a touch of originality to my community. That's not to say that your community can't be original with a premade theme, however. It's just nice to have something to set your community apart from others visually.

If the person can afford a custom theme I think he/she definitely would go for it. It should worth the extra money because it will make the forum look more original and special. Ready-made themes are also good but I don't think they are as good as the custom ones.

Custom themes are great but they are a bit too expensive for a lot of forum owners. That's why I usually always go for premium themes and then custom it a lot to make it almost seem like a unique and custom theme.

Custom themes are a great investment if you can afford it and can see your company earning the amount back and creating profit. For non-profit organizations, a ready made theme is a awesome start. It's still customizable to where you can change the logo, and the colour of the theme. You don't have to hire an expert to do this, just require a little knowledge in graphic design and your good to go. My preference is ready made as it's 100% cheaper and can save you money, remember you can always upgrade!

If you are not up financially to afford paying for your own theme, then you need no other alternative than to use the one available to you. Maybe when your online business site start doing well in getting you some fund then you can pay the theme of your choice. This is what most people I know do.

Yeah, but that guy might be really talented at making his own themes.

A Custom theme is better than a ready made theme since it looks unique in this world. I am still using a ready made theme, but in future I would be using Custom themes on all of my sites.
